Quarterly Chairman’s Report - January 2010

The Fallen Heroes and Those Left Behind

I write this month’s article with a heavy heart. I just learned that two Los Angeles County Firefighters died while fighting the Station Fire. The Station Fire is currently the largest of at least eight burning across California after days of triple-digit temperatures and low humidity.

So far the fire has scorched 104,960 acres of brush, destroyed 53 homes and threatened more than 12,000 others. (more…)

In Memory of Brent Lovrien

In response to the recent tragedy that killed a Los Angeles City Firefighter, Brent “Lovey” Lovrien, and critically injured another, Anthony J. Guzman, the Fire Family Foundation has created a fund to assist the families of both firefighters.

The Board of Directors and staff at Los Angeles Firemen’s Credit Union and the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association send our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Firefighter Brent “Lovey” Lovrien.
