The Fallen Heroes
Written by Paul on February 23rd, 2010
Greetings to All and a Happy New Year:
In this month’s credit union BLOG I have written a follow up to the to the Fallen Heroes article I wrote last October. In the article I said you will be hearing from me in the future about the organization. Well, here it is:
On March 21, 2009 four Oakland Police Officers were violently killed in the line of duty. Despite the passing of time, the families of these slain officers continue to cope with and manage the pain and burdens unexpectedly pressed upon them. A good friend of mine, Tom Gallinatti, who is a retired firefighter from the Oakland Fire Department was deeply moved by this tragic event. His belief was that as group of citizens, we should do something to honor those police officers and firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to provide us a safe and secure environment.
With this in mind, he asked a group of friends and associates to help him form an organization with the goal to help the families of fallen police officers and firefighters. Tom asked me to be one of the executive board members. I accepted. From his inspiration, the “Fallen Heroes Organization” was formed. The Fallen Heroes is a non-profit organization dedicated to acknowledging the final heroic acts of those men and women who served their respective communities so bravely and unselfishly, to pay the ultimate tribute to their memories as true American heroes, and to provide support in a variety of ways to those family members who have lost their beloved heroes in the line of duty.
After many hours of planning and preparation, the Fallen Heroes organization has decided that our inaugural charity event will be a celebrity golf tournament at the Diablo Country Club, located in Diablo California, on April 12, 2010. I have agreed to raise $2,000.00 in pledges before April 1, 2010. But, I need your help. Would you please consider making a tax deductable donation to our charity golf tournament? You can visit our web site at www.fallenheroes.org for additional information.
